Cecile Isaacs
My husband and I bought 40 acres of rugged ridge crest out Mill Creek Road in 1983 to use as a family campsite during academic vacations. Eventually we built a cabin to shelter from the mosquitos and afternoon winds. Once we retired from teaching Economics (Norm) and public accounting (Cecile) we moved to Healdsburg full time and looked for ways to contribute to the community we had grown to love.
My accounting and organizational skills were put to work in our two community governance Non-profits: the Palmer Creek Association and the Dry Creek Valley Association. With the DCVA Membership Committee, we explored new outreach methods to raise awareness of the association’s importance to valley preservation and increased membership by 30%. As a member of the Board Nominating Committee, I reached out to young, gifted residents who had
skills in internet management, marketing and organization who became long-term board members. Working with Ed Wilson and Marie Rist, I led an ad-hoc committee to update the Bylaws to clarify membership voting rules and board membership rules. Currently, I serve as Treasurer of the DCVA.
Although our house burned in the 2020 Walbridge fire, we rebuilt stronger and safer. Now happy to be living again in this community of clever, kind and generous people.
