The DCVA has a long history of funding educational scholarships for students who live in the Dry Creek Valley appellation. The Dry Creek Valley Scholarship began in the 1980’s. In 2003 the Dry Creek Valley Association and Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley joined together to create an endowment fund with Community Foundation Sonoma County to increase the results of our fundraising efforts and consequently, increase the amount of scholarships and the number of students receiving them.

Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors, college students, graduate students, and students entering accredited vocational and trade schools. All applicants must be residents or children of residents of the Dry Creek Valley Appellation and attend a school accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Since 2003, over $110,000 in scholarships have been awarded to over 70 students. The scholarships awarded are based on financial need, academic performance, and community involvement.

In 2012, 10,000 Degrees assumed administration of the scholarships for Community Foundation. With their role of supporting students through the educational system with counseling, and advice on how to meet deadlines and apply for financial aid, the results have shown that 84% of the 10,000 degree students complete their college education. Our national average for completion of college is only 54%.
