Anna Bernier

In 2007, Anna moved from Berkeley to Healdsburg with her soon-to-be husband, Zureal. She came to know Dry Creek Valley through the smell of garlic in the Bernier family garage and the dusty feel of vineyard soil underfoot as she walked from plum tree to peach in the summer months. Deciding to put down roots both literally and figuratively, Anna and Zureal married in 2009 and moved into their home on Canyon Road.

Prior to moving north, Anna completed a Master of Arts in Literature at Mills College in Oakland. For eight years, she taught English at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa. Although she is currently on hiatus from teaching, she continues to stay active in education by serving on the Geyserville Unified School District’s Board of Trustees.

Anna and Zureal have three young children who are already active members of the valley: taking wheelbarrows down to the road to fill with debris; biking up and down the curves that run north to south, east to west; and splashing in the frigid waters of Dry Creek. Joining the Dry Creek Valley Association gives her an opportunity to work to preserve this place for their future and so many others’.
